Mannettina Amavasya(New Moon Day) is a significant day in Hindu Calendar.
This festival is celebrated on Jyeshta shukla Amavasya. Mannu means mud; Yettu means bullock. This festival is celebrated usually in Karnataka, and AP, and bullocks made of mud are worshiped by the farmers.
The importance of whole celebration is the significance of the dependency on cattle for our existence-be it a cow, bull, or ox. They are the main source of milk, for ploughing, and for transportation. It is repaying respect to the bullocks and the soil on which a farmer depends the most.
In a way , this festival of bullock symbolizes the importance of bulls in Farming and It is like thanking the bullock for good harvest.
People make two bulls out of Mud and Do pooja to the bulls with arshina, kumkuma, flowers, Gejjevastra and Do Naivedya of Karida Kadubu , sweet dishes etc.
The Farm Men & women celebrate this with getting all the Naivedya items to their farm, doing pooja with their family to offer the same & start ploughing.
