Chowkalani is an important ritual in Hindu Brahmin marriages where in the Groom’s Mother is honoured for her sacrifices done so far for the good of her very first Son. As per the religious practices, the mother having Son as her first child can’t buy anything Green for herself. Her only mother can gift her anything Green. Till the day of marriage of her Son, she has to follow some strict rules specified in the religious scriptures.

Hence, this day of Marriage is the time, she will be freed from those responsibilities and former practices. Here everything offered to her is in Green Colour. Saree, Chatri/Umbrella, Morada Baagina, Jewellry including Green bangles etc. A special Wooden Stool having 3 Legs is made to make her sit on the same and honour her with all these things and Aarati.
