Divashi Gouri/Divasi Gouri-Wooden statue

It is a practice in Karnataka to worship Gouri as Divashi Gouri on Ashada amaavasya. This vruta is mentioned in Skanda Purana dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Married women do it for the long life of their spouse. Unmarried women observe the same for the well being of their brothers, father & to get a good Groom for them.

The same day is called by different names w.r.t. different states. It bbis also called as Bheemana Amavasya in Karnataka.

Brothers have to take out coin from the small dough balls kept on the Hostilu/Hocchala(a small wooden/Stone part used to make a marking  between two rooms. This practice is calledas Bhandaar Vodeyuvadu.
