Upanayana or Munjvi is an occasion of Thread ceremony in Hindu Brahmin and some other communities.

Munjavi is also called as Brahmopadesha, where, the Vatu is given Deeksha and then Janivara(sacred thread) dhaarana is done. Now a days, After the Janivara (sacred thread) dhaarana, either Gold/Silver OR 3 Layer Muttina Janivara can be put.
